A Great Ending and a New Beginning

Instructor Camp

I had a great time at the local 4 day instructor camp. It was split up into Wing Chun in the mornings and Kali in the evenings. Tue thru Friday mornings for Wing Chun, and Tue thru Thursday evenings for Kali. There was about 10 to 12 people in the mornings and about 14 to 16 people there in the evenings.

Great for me, I was the Si Hing for 4 days, the highest ranking Wing Chun instructor there in the mornings except for the sponsor of the camp.

I got to lead everyone in the Siu Lim Tao, Chum Kiu, Biu Tse, and Muk Yan Jong several times during the 4 days and helping out with techniques and applications.

Besides the the Kali in the evenings, there was a mixture of Silat and JKD(Jeet Kune Do). Single stick, double stick, with Hubud, disarms, Sumbrata, and Sinawali, single knife and double knife, with Hubud, and disarms.

Dragon Wing Chun Kung Fu School

Saturday was the last day of the 9 month school curriculum. The last quarter of strike control break and the 12 gates ended with 7 students attending class, with three of the senior students who started at the school 18 months ago passing their belt ranking tests and got their certificates and one student got a certificate for 1 year of class attendance.

After class we went over to the Heritage Park in Grapevine and trained in the Luk Dim Boon Gwan. We had room to practice the Chi Gwan, and techniques and applications in the wide open spaces of the park beside the pavilion.

Then we went down to the martial arts store and had a great time shopping there. We always go there to get our Baat Chaam Do and Luk Dim Boon Gwan. Afterwards we went to the burger joint and I paid for the students to have some really great thick burgers and stuff. We all had a great time and we all felt like family.
